A class of 37 students of the Bishop’s Girls’ School visited the High Street Branch on Thursday, November 19, 2009 to familiarize themselves with the transactions and services in banking.
Accompanied by two teachers, the girls arrived at 9:30am.
The Area Manager, Mrs. Margaret Akofio Sowah welcomed them and gave them a general overview of what Banking is all about by engaging them in a conversation and asking them questions. She then handed them over to Mr. Albert Ofori, the Operations Manager who took the first batch of 18 girls round educating them on all transactions beginning from the enquiries desk.
Mr. Ofori took them to every department of the branch, (the central accounts which is the central nerve of the branch), then to every corner explaining to them the various services offered and how to go about their transactions.
The second batch was taken round by Mrs. Josephine Lamptey.
Mr. Ofori and Mrs. Lamptey both gave the girls a thorough education on Bankingwhich lasted about one and a half hours. They also encouraged them to get their parents to open accounts for them for a better future. The children were very grateful and thanked the Bank for all the time given them.
Towards the end, about 80 percent of them said they wanted to be Bankers, and so were given information as to what courses to take to be able to work the Bank.
Another batch of 38 students is expected next week. The Bank is happy to be of help as it is a way of enhancing our Community Relations.
