Ghana Commercial Bank Limited is set to provide a stable banking and communications platform that will ensure that customers are served swiftly in all its 153 branches and 11 agencies throughout Ghana.

To achieve this, the Bank in May this year upgraded its banking application platform. The Deputy Managing Director,Operations, Mr. Samuel Sarpong, said this at the opening of the Nima Branch of the Bank in Accra on Monday, October 5.

The Nima Branch of GCB is located on the ground floor of Achiase House at Nima Alaska off the main Nima-Maamobi road.

The Nima Branch which is the 153rd branch of the Bank will serve the Nima, Maamobi, parts of Kokomlemle and Kanda communities.

The Deputy Managing Director justified the opening of the new branch when he said, “We are here not only to provide convenience but to assist residents and businesses to achieve their financial dreams by offering a wide range of financial products and advisory services.”

He said the opening of a branch in Nima is in fulfillment of the Bank’s Retail Banking Transformation strategy.
The strategy is to provide convenience and a pleasant environment for the Bank’s cherished customers to perform banking transactions. Mr. Sarpong said “the branding of this branch is an example of the new face of GCB.”

He said the Bank as part of the strategy is training branch staff in order to equip them with the requisite skills to provide excellent service to customers.

Under this initiative, Mr Sarpong said, customer service is being offered training to front line staff of over 50 branches.

Chief Baba Issah, Chairman of the Council of Ayawaso Muslim Chiefs, in his address, said the Nima community is a diverse one which could benefit immensely from banking.

He appealed to the Board and Management of GCB to extend its social responsibility programmes to the community by supporting the less endowed in education in the community.

The Chief of Nima, Nii Futah, expressed the confidence that GCB is capable of overtaking other banks in the community.
